Glock 48 mods

Oh Glock, at one point everyone proclaimed the Glock 19 was the perfect concealed carry gun. Now perfect is relative as its a rather large gun compared to a pocket pistol like the Ruger LCR. However, it was an excellent size compromise. It was a compact gun that offered 15 rounds on tap in an easy to control package. The Glock 19 is by far the most popular Glock pistol, and the Glock 19X sold a k units in a year, so that says something. What other differences are between the Glock 48 vs Glock 19?

The Glock 19 is a massively popular gun from a massively popular company. Glock could have rested on the Glock 19 as the end-all compact gun, but instead, this year they introduced the Glock The newest Glock is very 19 like, but is much thinner and is a single stack gun. The gun grabbed an immediate cult following of people who saw the benefits of the design. The Glock 48 is almost like an evolution of the Glock 19 but at the same different enough to gain its own number.

The Glock 19 comes with a standard nitride finish and is available in a stainless steel model. The finish is evenly applied without odd portions receiving more or less coating.

The blackened finish you find on most is well suited for both concealed carry and duty use. The finish is very hard and resistant to wear and tear. It will resist holster wear as well as contact with sweat and moisture in general. The traditional Glock finish is well proven and well made.

The new Glock 48 is outfitted with a new finish called nPVD.

This gives the gun a stainless steel appearance. It certainly stands out and looks good. Is it tough? The nPVD finish has been used for years on different guns and is quite rugged and tough. The new finish is very nice and speaks to my love of stainless guns. The polymer is cleanly cut without lines or mold marks.

Both guns are clean-cut and well made. The Glock 48 does have an nPVD finish that gives it the stainless appearance, and admittedly you can hunt down stainless Glock 19s.Instead, the curtain-rod engineer with a background in synthetic polymers wanted to design a sidearm to meet strict criteria desired by the Austrian military for its next service pistol.

Glock's first firearm design was also his 17th patent—the now famous 9x19mm Glock 17 —which won the Austrian contract in and soon became the most commonly used handgun in the world.

Since there's no perfect way to satisfy every operator, folks tailor the polymer platform to fit their own unique objectives. From night sights to triggers and anything in between, there are likely more ways to customize your Glock than there are for a plastic surgeon to reconstruct your face. While some modifications require an experienced gunsmith, the average shooter can install most parts in just minutes. Determined to improve upon the "perfect" plastic pistol, I set out to find and test the most popular drop-in Glock mods available today.

Trigger Among the most widely debated Glock modifications is the trigger mechanism. Glock factory triggers are widely accepted for their reliability and safe function in an everyday carry or service weapon, and it's completely reasonable for some people to refrain from tinkering with the standard 5. However, those who demand superior trigger performance should check out the complete drop-in kits from GlockTriggers.

They offer several trigger systems depending on your particular objective. Performance enhancements of the EDGE Trigger System are immediately noticeable when dry-firing, and translate into obvious improvements at the range. Smooth, consistent travel from the first pull until the breaking point eliminates the grainy response from the factory trigger.

That sounds like a major project, but I was able to install the entire system in about 15 minutes while following along with the installation video on GlockTriggers. Extended Slide Stop Lever Attempting to engage the factory slide stop lever can be quite a challenge, especially on newer pistols that aren't yet broken in. The shape of the standard lever is a common complaint among most shooters — especially competitors — who have trouble engaging the low profile lever with their thumbs.

It's also difficult to grip the underside of the lever when locking the slide back. An easy and affordable trick is a Glock extended slide stop leverwhich comes standard on competition models 34 and The replacement lever drops in by simply popping out two roll pins with the punch tool on the Lone Wolf 4-in-1dropping in the new lever and replacing the pin.

The trapezoid-shaped dimple on the replacement lever is small, but significantly easier to engage and improves weapon manipulation. Magazine Enhancements The base plate on Glock magazines can be replaced for additional capacity and ergonomic enhancements. Taran Tactical Innovations makes a base pad kit that is popular among competitive shooters because it adds five extra rounds and additional weight so the magazine can easily drop out of the mag well.

For everyday carry, folks often install base plate extensions from Pearce Grip for an ergonomic enhancement. Specifically, adding an extension to subcompact Glock magazines — such as the Glock 26 — provides a comfortable spot for your pinky finger to ride so it doesn't hang off the bottom of the frame. Modifying a Glock magazine is relatively simple, so long as you can remove the factory base plate.

The retention tabs that hold the base pad in place make it difficult to slide it off with your bare hands. Unless you're the Incredible Hulk, you will probably need to use pliers to carefully squeeze the sides of the magazine to remove the factory base pad. Rail Attachments In the late 90s, Glock started adding rail attachments to the frames of their Gen 3 pistols.

Attaching lights and lasers to the rails of a pistol greatly improves target acquisition.Cerakote is for the entire slide. If NONE Aimpoint Acro Cut. Please make sure that you have For Glock Front Serration, 43x, 48 and 45 model only. Jagerwerks enhances the existing front serrations and rear serrations of the slide.

Not only do we deepen them, we also make them wider providing more grip. You can add that to your cart using this link.

Please make sure that you have arrangements for slide coating if we do not coat it. It is implied that the customer will have arrangements for coating of a slide if NONE is selected for color. If NONE is chosen there is potentially an issue for rust and corrosion to develop on the slide. Jagerwerks is not responsible for misuse and neglect of bare metal. When milling for a Delta Point Pro on a Glock slide we must use the iron sight that attaches to the optic housing from Leupold.

We do not offer standard iron sight dovetails behind, or in front of the optic. This applies to Glock slide milling packages for the Delta Point Pro.

My rmr fit tight which means tolerances were perfect. And I got my slide back in a little less than 4 weeks.

Received my slide back within 3 weeks of me sending it out. Very handsome results. I sent my G45 in for this package and milling for an RMR. I received my order sooner than anticipated. The work is fantastic. The serrations are deeper, wider, and clean. It allows for easy slide manipulation without cutting into your hands. Extremely impressed to say the least. I would absolutely recommend this package to anyone.Instead, the curtain-rod engineer with a background in synthetic polymers wanted to design a sidearm to meet strict criteria desired by the Austrian military for its next service pistol.

It was released with the Glock 43X which is a hybrid between this new Glock 48 and the slightly older and smaller Glock The Glock 48 is exactly what I asked for… a slim Glock Sold at BrownellsPalmetto State Armory.

The Glock 19 is, by far, the most popular Glock pistol. In fact, I recommend it more than any other handgun for a general purpose handgun. It is just big enough to serve as a duty gun and be big enough for serious range use. It is just small enough that it is reasonably concealable. A few years ago, Glock came out with a single-stack pistol for concealed carry but they missed the boat and came out with it in ACP instead of 9mm.

Actually, they were probably geniuses because everyone bought the Glock 42 in ACP for a year before they came our with the Glock 43 in 9mm and people had to purchase an entirely new handgun. I may have had some inside information and knew to wait to purchase my Glock The Glock 43 seemed like what we wanted — a tiny Glock in 9mm.

The problem with it was: it was too small to effectively use and it only held 6 rounds in the magazine. Glock was doing fine…until…. It is not an overstatement to say that the Sig P redefined what a concealed carry handgun should be. The Sig P was TINY, it held 12 rounds in the magazine, came with a great trigger, great sights, and it felt great in the hand. Glock had to respond. Simply, the Glock 48 is effectively a slimmed-down Glock 19 that holds 10 rounds in the magazine.

I love this part… it creates such a smooth pull. This has been a complaint of mine for long time.JavaScript seems to be disabled in your browser. The Apex Action Enhancement Trigger for Glock pistols is a direct drop-in replacement of the factory polymer trigger and reduces overall trigger travel while providing a smooth uptake and reset, as well as a crisp trigger break.

Not from us directly, but you could contact Legion Precision, they can offer you one of our triggers Cerakoted. Bob Horrar. Presently, this is the only trigger we have that fits the Glock 43, 43X and We are hoping to have that by the NRA show in late April.

I got the Thin Line Blue series trigger and it fits like a charm. Can I still use it?? Or what would be a plunger recommendation for the 43x? Come on guys we want the trigger on the bar Please hurry? We're working on it, the supply of bars has been tough to get our hands on. Glock 48 — initial impressions — Notes from KR.

Liking the Apex trigger on my Shield, I went ahead and put that part in my Glock Note — to remove the Glock 48 trigger from the connector requires damaging the factory trigger itself, since the pin is a one-way pin and the only way to get it out is to punch through the housing. Any chances of doing a 43X trigger in the silver color so it matches the slide?

Would look awesome. The link you posted above stated that it was compatible with the glock But on that page it says not for gen 5 models.

Is the 48 not a gen 5? The Gen 5 trigger bodies have a cut on the right side to accommodate the ambi slide stop. Ty Bates. We do not know at this time. Availability of factory trigger bars is the issue. So you can use your own by replacing the stock polymer trigger with the Apex trigger body. However, that will mean 'breaking' the factory polymer trigger such that you cannot reinstall it on the trigger bar.

Ron Galloway. I have a new 43x that I shot yesterday. My trigger finger gets pinched between the bottom of the trigger and the trigger guard. If I install your trigger, will that stop the finger pinching?
